Signs

Dots, simple and crossed lines, circles, triangles and squares as well as combinations of these simple signs can be found in Palaeolithic caves and on rock walls, where they found their origin as sign formations developed over the millennia and have now become ornaments. Their peak expression came in the Neolithic, as impressively exemplified by the engraving-covered orthostats in the monuments of Gavrinis in Brittany and Newgrange in Ireland.

The author broadened and inspired her primary interest in symbol-like expression by deeply and intimately exploring the manifold meanings of this world of signs. Later, far from the place of origin of these signs, she tapped into the perceptions and impressions gained to create her own artistic work, bringing it to new expression in her jewellery objects.
